The black sun represents a going inward, like a black hole imploding. To go inside oneself and face ones fears in order to leave behind what no longer needs to be carried on. The Great Mother, Queen of Heaven, Mother Mary, Isis, Kali are depicted with either dark robes or dark skin. This represents the mastery of the black sun forces. One has to be pure to be able to move through these lower vibrations without getting stuck and degenerating in the endless space of the timelessness of chaos.

In ourselves this process can feel like chaos, a loss of control, because the familiar has been left behind, but we do not yet know who we are reborn into.
